• My name is John MacMillan, and I teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at Ibraham Elementary. I have taught ESL in Winston-Salem since 1995, and I have taught at Ibraham since 1997.

Working with students and families at Ibraham has been a very rewarding experience for me. In my class we work on listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

One thing I like about ESL is that we can work in every subject area while we learn English. I especially enjoy seeing my students develop their English skills to the point where they can succeed in their regular classrooms without additional support. I have been here long enough that some of my students are the children of students I taught long ago!

I grew up in Fayetteville, NC, and attended college in Chapel Hill and in Greensboro. I enjoy music, nature, and working with my students!
