Dr. Benika Thompson is an educator with 21 years of service to Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County Schools. As a recruited NC Teaching Fellow, she came to the district as a sixth-grade Science and English/Language Arts teacher at Philo Middle School in August of 2001. She left Philo Middle School and joined the staff of Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy and then Jefferson Middle School, where she served as Curriculum Coordinator. In October 2010, she was selected to serve as WS/FCS as Director of Science, K-12. In June of 2018, she accepted the principalship at Philo-Hill Magnet Academy. Dr. Thompson is a product of North Carolina public schools and believes that when students, families, and communities partner with public schools, then great things happen for young people. Below is a summary of her formal educational experiences:

Ms. Mitzi Sheppard

Ms. Sheppard comes to WSFCS VA with a background in elementary and middle school.  She has 25 years of experience in WS/FCS. She attended UNC-Chapel Hill and later UNC- Greensboro, where she received her educational leadership degree.  She has a love for serving all students and helping them reach their full potential.  You may see her around town with her two boys who keep her busy at basketball or baseball games when she is not working.
