WS/FCS Middle School Redistricting

  • Construction for the new Lewisville Middle School is underway and will be complete in July 2021.  This school is the first to be completed of the two new middle schools approved in the 2016 Bond Referendum.  The school will be open to students for the 2021-22 school year and will primarily serve students in the Lewisville area of our county.  Lewisville Middle school will provide school capacity relief to Meadowlark and Jefferson Middle Schools.

In an effort to place Hanes Middle School residential students in a school closer to their residential neighborhoods, WS/FCS is proposing redistricting of those homes to Mineral Springs Middle School.  This move will substantially decrease travel time for students currently traveling to the Hanes location at the Hill Middle School site.  Students affected by this proposed change will remain in the Northwest Choice Zone.

Philo-Hill Middle School will undergo remodeling and building addition construction during the 2021-22 school year.  WS/FCS is proposing that the school close for one school year and reopen as an Arts Magnet School in 2022-2023.  In an effort to accomplish this change, students will be redistricted to Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy and Hanes Middle School building for the 2021-22 school year.  Middle School Choice Zones will not be affected for students living in these areas.
