Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
What is MTSS?
The goal of Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is to ensure that all students receive a high-quality education that is equitable. MTSS is in place to ensure all academic, social, and emotional needs are met for your child. MTSS is provided to individual students or groups of students to target academic and/or behavior goals. MTSS identifies and supports struggling students so they can succeed. Data, delivered on a regular and timely basis, including test scores, intervention data, behavior goals, and attendance are used on all levels to support the needs of your child.
Why MTSS?
MTSS is used to improve student outcomes through targeted support and interventions so that each child can be successful. Interventions are in place to meet your child where they are academically and support them along the journey to grade level proficiency.
How does MTSS work?
MTSS has three different tiers. The three levels are in place so teachers can appropriately place every student on the level that they will best receive instruction.
-Tier I includes all students. This instruction is provided to all children in the general classroom setting.
-Tier II is targeted instruction that is specific to your child’s needs. This extra instruction may be provided individually or in a small group setting.
-Tier III is intensive support needed for your child to be successful. This extra instruction may be provided individually or in a small group setting.
