Hello and welcome to my homepage! Please use the links to the left to help navigate you to the correct pages.

Please email me if you have any questions. AP English students should refer to my class on Moodle for up to date documents and assignments. Parents should check Parent Portal for student grades, attendance information, and assignments. Information on how to access Parent Portal can be found through Student Services.

Students and parents are encouraged to sign up for REMIND, a free texting and chat program that is accessible via email, website, or smartphone. The phone app is available in your app store, or you could just use the texting service. I will be using this service to send announcements and reminders to students. You may also use the program to start a one-on-one chat with me. If you wish to enroll in this free service, please send an email to sbwalters@wsfcs.k12.nc.us and I will send you instructions. Please make the subject "Remind Student 3B (with the period and day)" or "Remind Parent AP/English 2". A list of recent messages is provided below.

    Ongoing Extra Credit Opportunity

Earn an extra credit ticket for each Arts Express event you attend. To earn full credit, you must do the following:

    • Bring in a copy of your ticket (if purchased individually) or take a picture of yourself at the event and share it with me via email.
    • Write a one page reflection on how the performance affected you. Were you moved by a certain act? Do you believe the production was true to the original book? How did it compare to a movie production you've already seen? Did it make you want to see other similar performances?

Visit the Arts Magnet page for updated information.

    About me:

I started working at Reynolds in August 2008.I’m married and have two beautiful daughters, one younger sister, and one dog.  I earned my B.A in English from Salem College. Some of my favorite things are historical themed movies (I watch Pride and Prejudice, First Knight, and Shakespeare in Love when I feel like watching movies), goldfish crackers, diet cherry sodas, k-cups, chocolate, and awesome pens. I love the book The Dragons are Singing Tonight, a poetry book that I recently read to my daughter.  It’s a lot of fun because it paints dragons in a fascinating light. I also love the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin. My favorite TV shows are Game of Thrones (obviously since it’s based on my favorite book series), Once Upon a TimeSherlockParks and Recreation, and basically any superhero TV show ever. In addition to teaching you lovely folks, I am also graduation coordinator, so expect me to be super busy in May and June.

    Copy Write Plug

The Reynolds literary magazine was established in the spring of 2009 by a few literary minded individuals.  They wished to create a school-sanctioned venue through which creative writers and artists could publish their work. Since that time, the founding members have graduated, but their legacy remains.

Since its foundation, the Copy Write staff has been dedicated to finding and publishing short stories, poems, creative nonfiction, and artwork by the current Reynolds student body. It truly captures the meaning of "arts-integrated". Students (and faculty) may submit entries by emailing rjrlitmag@gmail.com. Entries are then judged anonymously by the staff. Winning selections will be edited and published in the next issue.

Artwork may be submitted through the email system or through RJR art faculty members.

Click here to view the earliest issues of Copy Write. I used to be the magazine sponsor, but now you should contact Ms. Fitzgerald if you have questions.
