• Mrs. Alfreda Smith, Principal

    Mrs. Smith has over twenty-five years in education. She has worked at Walkertown Middle School, as a School Coordinator and Assistant Principal at Atkins Academic & Technology High School, Assistant Principal at Reynolds High School, and Principal at Northwest Middle School. Mrs. Smith is a former Teacher of the Year and has been nominated for Principal of the Year numerous times. In 2018 she was honored as the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School's Principal of the Year and represents the  Forsyth Principal Association as Vice-President in addition to serving on various committees.

    Mrs. Smith holds a degree in Mass Communication from Winston-Salem State University, a master's degree in Technology and School Administration from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, and is currently completing a Doctoral Degree in School Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. Smith also completed a year-long Distinguished Leadership program in 2017 sponsored by The North Carolina Principals & Assistant Principals Association.

    Mrs. Smith is passionate about serving others. She shares building healthy positive relationships in a safe, inclusive environment for all, is imperative to school success. Mrs. Smith has a proven track record of success. She guided her previous school with exceeding expected growth for seven years. She was instrumental in receiving a million-dollar district Verizon grant, mentoring other leaders, and hosting/training future administrators from UNC-Chapel Hill, High Point University, North Carolina Central, and North Carolina Agricultural & State University. Mrs. Smith believes having a dedicated staff,  who are genuinely passionate about taking care of the whole child, has enhanced her career as a leader.

    Mrs. Smith looks forward to working alongside staff, students, parents, and the community to ensure that John F. Kennedy is THE PREMIER HIGH SCHOOL in the REGION!  She shares that this goal will come to fruition through CLARITY, COMMITMENT, AND CONTRIBUTION!

    After the first year of working with Mrs. Smith, I dubbed her a “schoolhouse principal” in response to her focus on teacher empowerment, student behaviors, safety first, and continually striving to improve the learning experiences in our school.     I am delighted that Ms. Alfreda Smith is the new principal at JF Kennedy High School. Her background is in Career and Technical Education (CTE), so she will be a huge asset to our CTE High School.
