ABOUT MRS. MUDGETT
I am a graduate of The Ohio State University (Go Buckeyes!!!), and am a HUGE college football fan!!! I have been teaching at the middle school level since 1994 and have been teaching 8th grade at KMS since its doors opened in 1998. My husband (also an OSU alum) and I have been married for 24 years. We have two wonderful daughters. The oldest is a sophomore at High Point University this year, while the youngest is a senior at East Forsyth High School. We have 2 dogs named Toby (he's a Snorkie), and Tucker (he's a Chiweenie). We love spending time with friends and family at Belews Lake.
HOMEWORK
Homework is an essential part of education. Students can expect to have homework anywhere from 3 to 5 nights per week. In mathematics, as in most anything, without practice, you will not be successful. Homework is expected to be completed on time (late work will not be accepted), and will be collected and graded throughout the year. We will be using the TI-83 Plus or TI-84 series of graphing calculators in all 8th grade math classes this year. I have a set for use in the classroom, however it would be helpful if each student has one to use at home to complete homework. If you purchase one of these calculators, please save and send in the proof of purchase card. I can receive free materials from TI for the classroom with them. I am willing to engrave your last name onto the back of your calculator; and I encourage you to keep it at home to prevent loss or theft.
COMMUNICATION
I feel very strongly that communication is crucial to student success. Please feel free to email me anytime if you have concerns about your child's progress. It always helps if you give your child's name in the subject section of each email. I am also available by phone, but please understand that you may need to leave me a message, and I will return your call as soon as possible. My email address is lmudgett@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
