Happy Spring Parents!

6^th and 7^th Grade Parents:  It is almost time for our annual Spring Recital.  Parents, please put the date, May 19^th on your calendars.  We will be having two shows again, like at our Winter Recital; below you will see listed which class is in which show time:

5:30 Recital:  Year 1 ~ 6^th Period ~ A Day

6:30 Recital:  Year 1 ~ 5^th Period ~ A Day

Our theme for our concert is ‘Summer Vacation’ and each dance class will represent a certain aspect of summer vacation.  Please ask your dancer what his or her dance is about and please help them create a costume/outfit appropriate for it.  Under my classroom documents, on my web page, I have posted outfit ideas for each class as well as what each class’ aspect is.  Please remember parents that your dancer does receive a grade for our Spring Recital, so it is a mandatory event for them.  Plus, they have worked very hard this year, so this is a great time for them to show you some of their accomplishments this year.  However, if you and your dancer have a conflict with this date, please send me a note about your dancer’s absence, and I will give them an alternate project to complete for their performance grade.  I look forward to seeing all of you at our Spring Recital on May 19^th!

8^th Grade Parents:  In order to better prepare my dancers for high school, they have been given a choreography project.  Instead of 8^th graders having a class dance, they have this project; and the top 12-14 graded dance pieces have an opportunity to present their dance at the Spring Recital (and this is only if they want to present it).  I am treating this project like an audition process that they will see in high school.  This way they will have an audition experience and be able to be more confident with themselves when they move into high school.  Parents, you are more than welcome to come see your dancer present their project during their class time; we will be having these presentation auditions on May 9^th and May 10^th during 1^st and 2^nd periods.  The rubric for this project is posted under my classroom documents, if you would like to view it.  If you have a question about when your dancer presents or about the project, please contact me by email or call the school.
