- Atkins School of Biotechnology
- Overview
-
The School of Biotechnology offers two separate strands of courses that address the needs of our local business community: medical sciences and biotechnology. To aid in the students' education and preparation, we encourage multiple interactions with the local business community. These interactions range from formal internships, job shadowing experiences, field trips, guest speakers, financial partners, or surplus supply donations. If you would like to know more about the strands that we teach, see what our students can do by clicking on this link for a brochure and if you are interested in partnering with us, please follow this link to the Business Interest SurveyPartnersCollege and Universities

Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative MedicineInternshipsWe have some outstanding students who have excelled in our strand courses. We want to offer those students an opportunity to apply for summer internships prior to their senior year. An internship generally consists of 80-160 hours of work-related experience. The students would apply and be interviewed like any other employee. The school coordinator will meet with the internship sponsor and together draw up a job description for the internship experience. The sponsor will be asked to complete two evaluation forms on the student. The student will be asked to complete a journal and presentation on their experience. The school coordinator will be available to both the student and sponsor should any concerns arise during the internship experience, and will conduct periodic site visits during the internship.
If you are interested in participating as a sponsoring institution for our internship program, please contact the school coordinator, Terry Howerton at thowerton@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.
