• Learning Focused Strategies

Learning Focused Strategies is a framework for unit planning, lesson planning, and teaching that allows teachers to incorporate a variety of elements to meet the needs of all students including graphic organizers, activators, reading comprehension strategies, scaffolding, etc.  Teachers begin each lesson with an essential question.  The lesson is then activated and any vocabulary is previewed to help students have a better understanding of the lesson.  Teaching groups range from whole group to cooperative learning to pairs.  Teaching strategies include problem-based learning, role play, guided practice, lecture, research, Socratic seminar, presentation, etc.  Each day the students summarize their learning through ticket out the door, 3-2-1, show me, reflection log, etc.
