WELCOME TO MISS FOSTER'S CLASS!Dear Parents,Welcome to my homepage. I am currently a 4th grade teacher in the Alternative Education Program here at Cook called CREST. We are a therapetuic day treatment program housed within Cook Elementary. Students from all over the county enter our program for one to 4 semesters. Our program encompassses academics coupled with soical skill development. I am the classroom teacher. I also have an assisitant, Ms. Reeves, plus a Behavior Support Specialist named Mr. Matthews.
I have been working in the CREST program for 6 years. I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1991 with a cross categorical degree in Special Education. In November of 2000, I received my National Board Certification. I passed the renewal last year after a 10 year period with the certificaiton. It has taught me a great deal about myself and how to work to meet the diverse learners within our school. National Boards is an honor to receive since it means I am Nationally accredited to teach anywhere in the country. I love North Carolina and there is really no place I would rather be!GRADINGA= Excellent Progress ( 93-100)B= Very Good Progress (85-92)C= Satisfactory Progress (78-85)D= Slow Progress (70-77)E= Unsatisfactory Progress ( 70 and below)Students will have homework Monday through Thursday night.
