    THEME:  Welcome back!  I hope you all enjoyed your holiday break.  This week we have been learning about different New Years celebrations from around the world.   Next week our theme will be WINTER.   We will be talking about the season of winter and how the weather changes, how animals prepare for winter, and discuss hibernation and migration.  Some of our activities for next week include:  a snowball fight and relay races, making snow in the sensory table, a scavenger hunt for winter white items, and making snow cream!  
    NEEDED:    We are in need of small & large paper plates for craft activities and art.  
    SCIENCE:  After break we will discuss the 3 states of matter.  We will talk about what makes things melt and what type items can melt.  We will also make ice cream and discuss the different phases that occur when making ice cream.  
     SKILLS:  1).Put numbers in numerical order 2). use common prepositions correctly 3).  Place objects into categories and tell why 4). Ask & answer questions about story 5).  work on letter recognition
    Please continue to help your  children to practice hanging their coat on a hanger & zipping the coat on the hanger so that is does not fall off the hanger.  We do this everyday here at school, and it is difficult for some who may need extra practice.  

     Please make sure to ask your child daily about what we have been learning.  I am sure they would love to tell you all about it!
