    Middle School CTE Teacher
    The mission of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is to prepare students to be world class workers and citizens in our global economy. Career development experiences for middle grades students are designed to develop specific skills in Computer Applications I, Computer Applications II, and Exploring Business and Marketing.  CTE programs are also designed to contribute to the broad educational achievement of students, including basic skills such as reading, writing, and mathematics, as well as to their ability to work independently and as part of a team, think creatively and solve problems, and utilize technology.
     
    Classes Taught:
     
    >6th Grade Computer Skills and Applications I

    This course is designed to help students master proper keyboarding technique and basic skills in word processing.  Most work will be done in class using a typing program and word processing software.  Because of this, there will be few homework assignments aside from studying the course material.  This course will have a final exam at the end of the year that counts as 20% of their final grade.

     
    >7th Grade Computer Skills and Applications II

    This course is designed to help students master the basics of presentation software and techniques, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and advanced word processing.  Emphasis is also placed on digital literacy as well as the refinement of keyboarding skills.


    >8th Grade Business, Marketing and Entrepreneurship
     

    This middle school course is designed to explore the nature of business and to study related careers in fields such as entrepreneurship and marketing. Emphasis is on utilizing the computer to studying applications in these careers along with problem solving and team building skills.
