    Who/What is PTO?

The Downtown School PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization. We are a local unit made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and local business owners, etc. who wish to participate in the overall development of the children in our community. We are here to support the teachers and the students in helping them become the best possible versions of themselves!

Here at the Downtown School we pride ourselves in our ability to support both academic and cultural arts programs within the school. We work one on one with administration and the teaching staff to try to meet the needs of the school. To do this, we raise large sums of money through various fundraisers (such as Attractions Books Sales and Direct Give Campaigns), spirit wear, yearbook sales, and more. These have been extremely successful and continue to be a priority.  In addition, we also promote the idea of community by hosting Family Spirit Nights such as skate nights, athletic events and restaurant nights. Often these nights generate additional revenue for us, so please participate when you can! We hope to increase the frequency and variety of these nights, so stay tuned!

We typically hold 4 large general meetings, one in each quarter. However, our Board meetings are open to any member who would like to attend. We would love to see you all, but we do understand that there are those of you who can not make the meetings due to other commitments. We make every effort to email our monthly meeting minutes and budget to the member list to accommodate those of you who are unable to attend. Our hope is to reach out to everyone - if not in person, then in cyberspace.
