• Gibson Elementary is an evolving PBIS School.

    A major component of PBIS is that we are consistently defining, teaching, reinforcing, and monitoring positive behaviors.

    We take a proactive approach to school-wide discipline. This initiative is meant to reinforce the positive behavior of scholars doing what is expected of them as well as support scholars who need extra assistance to reach the school wide expectations of showing PRIDE.

    PRIDE stands for

    P= Politeness

    R= Respect

    I= Integrity

    D= Discipline

    E= Excellence

    Why does Gibson use Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (PBIS)?

               A.       It is based on research.

               B.       It uses data to support changes

               C.       It sets high expectations for appropriate behavior

               D.       It follows a team approach to problem solving and implementation.

    Positive Aspects of PBIS
    Scholars are rewarded for positive behavior with Den Dollars and Den Checks.  Scholars are able to visit the PBIS Store once a month and spend their Den Dollars on items in the store.  Once a quarter, scholars can also spend their Den Dollars to attend a quarterly celebration. Classes can earn Den Checks which award the entire classroom incentives for positive behavior.
