Jefferson Elementary School is a K-5 school located in Winston-Salem. The school opened its doors in 1999 and has a rich culture and family presence. With a student population of about 570 students, JES is one of the most diverse elementary schools in WS/FCS with over 63 countries and cultures represented. JES offers a curriculum that is devoted to academic fundamentals with strong support from families and community members. With a highly motivated team of teachers who build relationships first, students are held to high expectations at JES. Students are leaders in the classroom and are encouraged to communicate, collaborate, and problem solve as part of their learning journey at JES.

As of June 2019, Jefferson became a Leader in Me school- the first in WS/FCS. The Leader in Me is a learning-centered model focused on Dr. Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Our school goal is to provide students with the necessary skills to be leaders and agents of change for a better world tomorrow. We invite you to join us on our Leader in Me journey at JES, give feedback, and reflect with us as we undergo a great, new school year!

We welcome you and invite you to visit Jefferson and experience all that we have to offer! We look forward to meeting you and learning more about YOU!
