ALL STUDENTS - Remember to Complete Make-Up Work Promptly. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure you get your make-up work!!!!! I will deduct points if it is not turned in within 3 days. All Study Guides and Powerpoints are under Haiku, Edmodo and Links from this webpage, and on the shared drive at school. There is no excuse not to study for tests!PARENTS - Please call me with any concerns that you may have. Please e-mail me as soon as you can and I will have your e-mail in my system. My e-mail is thayes2@wsfcs.k12.nc.us. Please put the 2 after my name. PLEASE tell your student to not bring in games, IPOD's (2 were stolen last year), headphones, and other electronic devices. Students that do well in class do not bring cell phones and other teachers work to the class. They need to be able to concentrate. If your student is failing they are probably playing on their phones or games on the computers!
Also, I give out paper copies of each study guide, there are also copies of games under Quia for each objective. Study guides are also under Edmodo.com so if they forget their copy they can get to a copy at home.Rules/Regulations:Class participation is determined as follows. Each day in class, the student can earn 10 points. A total will be entered as a grade for each 2 week period. Progress reportsStudent receive progress reports three times a quarter. Students will need to bring these back to me signed by the parent. Dates are located in the student handbook. Also, this year, parents will automatically be emailed progress reports and will be able to see students grades every two weeks. I also print progress reports frequently for the students so they have time to complete make-up work before the signed progress reports go home. If you are not receiving you child's progress reports please sign up for Parent Assist on the East Webpage.
Please E-mail me so that your e-mail is added to my parent list.CLASS GUIDELINES PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
- Be Prompt. Be in your seat when the bell rings! I will follow the 200 Building Tardy policy it will be posted in the room.
- Be Prepared. All handouts and graded work are to be kept in the 1-inch 3-ring portfolio binder. Students will need the handouts, old tests and copies of their graded work to study for quarter tests and exams. Professionalism is required. This is a business course that will assist you in preparing for your future. Our classroom atmosphere should be conducive to learning. Students will need to be quiet and considerate or others at all times and take responsibility for their actions. Each student is expected to follow all school rules. **New - School Computer and Internet Use policy please read and sign the policy that will be sent home for your signature. Students can lose computer privileges by not following these guidelines. Students are responsible for any damages they may inflict on the equipment used in the classroom. Each area, should be neat at the end of each class period. Students should not talk during class it is distracting to others and it is hard to learn and listen if you are talking. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, DRINKS, CELL PHONES, IPODS, CD PLAYERS OR HATS IN CLASS. I expect students to stay in their seats until the bell rings. If students finish their assignments early they can read in the textbook, take notes or study for their next test.
- Absences Should Be Kept to a Minimum. Following absences, it will be YOUR responsibility to check with me for the assignments you missed. School policy allows students two days for every day absent for completing make-up work. Students can come before school or after school on Tuesday-Thursday to complete make-up work. Students will need to check with me for the times. All computer work must be completed at school. If you are out for an extended absence, I will work with you to get you caught up.
- Be Positive. A positive attitude is a must in this class and in life. Remember you are learning skills that will be beneficial to you the rest of your life. Sometimes your computer will crash and you will be asked to move to another seat maybe even another classroom to finish your work
