Welcome to Mrs. Austin's 4th Grade

My name is Mary Laura Teague Austin.
Welcome to the 4th Grade!
I'm Tickled Pink to be Teaching at Lewisville Elementary!
I have been teaching in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system for many years. I taught 4th and 2nd Grade at Middle Fork Elementary in Walkertown, N.C. before to coming to Lewisville Elementary.
I am originally from Winston-Salem and I attended The Summit School for most of my early education. I also attended schools in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system, graduating from Reynolds High School. I did both my undergraduate and graduate work at Salem College in Winston-Salem. I come from a small family. I am the youngest of three sisters. I live in Winston-Salem with my husband of 16 years, Borden and our dog, Princess Grace as well as our cat, Xena. I love to travel! I have been to several different countries and I enjoy meeting new people and learning about their cultures. I love to cook and am always ready to try a new recipe! Reading is my favorite passion! I love to read a good book. I also love to sing and sing solos in my church. I think using music in the classroom is a wonderful way for children to learn. If you stop by you may hear your child singing some cool math songs!
I look forward to working closely with you this year. Please let me know if you have any questions. My contact information is mlaustin@wsfcs.k12.nc.us. I check my email at 10:30am and in the afternoon after school each day. I also check your child's yellow Planner daily, so feel free to write me a note there as well.
