    It is so hard to believe, but the 2014 school year is almost over! My 4th and 5th grade students have worked so hard this semester. We have learned the following (and more): 
    • parts of speech: nouns, verbs, and adjectives
    • grammar: singular and plural nouns, subject/verb agreement
    • the 6 Body Systems
    • reading strategies: finding the main idea, using context clues, summarizing, synonyms, referring back to the text
    • the causes and effects of the U. S. Civil War
    Students have read the following chapter books with me:

    • Roxaboxen
    • Tornado
    • My Father's Dragon
    • Elmer and the Dragon
    • Josefina: An American Girl
