Welcome to Speas Counseling! The School Counseling Program is for all children at Speas Elementary in grades K-5. It is comprehensive in scope, focusing on competencies in academic development, personal/social development, and career development. Some of the services available to children are classroom guidance, small group counseling, and individual counseling. Children may be referred by a parent, school personnel, or self-referral. Classroom guidance activities may include such topics as families, friendships, feelings, social skills, self-control, behavior management, decision-making, character education, stress management, study skills, and safety. The School Counselor consults with other Student Services Personnel such as the School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Speech/language Pathologist, Nurse, and Home-School Coordinator. The School Counselor also assists in creating partnerships between the community and Speas teachers and students in an effort to positively impact student achievement.
