About Mrs. Hefner:  I have 25 years of experience teaching chemistry at Glenn High School.  I graduated from Appalachian State University in 1992 with a BS in chemistry.  I am a North Carolina Teaching Fellow.  I have been National Board Certified in Adolescence and Young Adulthood Science, Chemistry since 1999.  I have been honored to have been selected as Glenn High School's teacher of the year in 1999 and again in 2009.
I am the proud mother of three beautiful daughters, Rebecca, Rachel and Sarah.  I am happily married to Thomas, who teaches Physics and Chemistry at Greensboro Day School.
I have coached the Varsity Swim team since 1993 (see the Swim Team Page for more details). I also coach the science academic team, and am the head coach for the schools teams.  I am the National Honor Society and Beta Club sponsor.
I absolutely love chemistry and enjoy teaching the wonders of chemistry to each and every one of my students.  I am dedicated to sharing my passion for chemistry with all students.
HAppy Erlenmeyer   Welcome to Mrs. Hefner's Chemistry Home Page.

Chemistry (and all of science) opens opportunities for students to explore and learn exciting things that explain the world around them.

My mission for all students is that they leave my classroom with a desire to learn more, with a love for experiencing chemistry and science in general, and with a strong foundation for learning beyond high school.
