How has RISE benefitted students in a way that traditional summer school would not?
"The components of the program make the difference. Strategic planning in which children are invited, which teachers are selected, which researched based curriculum is used, and components of the student’s instructional day has provided the best success."
-
Has making RISE a district wide campaign (rather than each school being responsible for their own summer school) increased enrollment?
"Individual schools can provide supplemental programs for their own students using their own funds, but our district has always provided a summer program. We continue to try to find ways to reach subgroups for RISE."
-
Has the proficiency/growth of students in the program changed since RISE was initiated?
"We continue to see an increase in both proficiency and growth of students in reading and math. We’re on the right path, so as long as we continue to refine best practices, through research based curriculum and effective instruction we’ll get the results."
