Whitaker Elementary School

HELLO WHITAKER EAGLES! 

It is with great pleasure that I serve you as your incoming principal at Whitaker Elementary School.  It has truly been an honor to become a part of the Whitaker Elementary School community.  Thank you to the community, families, teachers, staff, and students for all the warm welcomes received.  I can tell that Whitaker is a unique and special place to learn and grow academically as well as socially.   

Prior to becoming your principal, I served as an assistant principal, instructional facilitator, and classroom teacher.  I come to Whitaker Elementary School with 19 years of experience in education.  Most recently, I served as the assistant principal at Wiley Magnet Middle School.  During my tenure at Wiley Magnet Middle School, I was able to get to know many of the Whitaker families, since many Whitaker students attend Wiley after fifth grade.  I am excited to be able to continue my work with many of these families due to many of my Wiley students having younger brothers and sisters that attend Whitaker.  

As we begin this school year, we will continue to keep student achievement our number one top priority.  We will also continue to focus on students' social and emotional well-being through our Leader In Me educational leadership program.  Our schoolwide Leader In Me program is an evidence-based, social emotional learning process—developed in partnership with educators—that empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.  We will continue to meet every child where they are and move them forward. 

I firmly believe families are valuable partners in education, and I encourage our families to visit our school, work closely with our staff and teachers, attend curriculum nights, musicals, and PE performances.  Furthermore, I invite parents to become aware of what curriculum, resources, and instructional strategies we use in our classrooms, so that you can support your child at home, instructionally.  With your support, Whitaker Elementary School will continue to be a positive environment where ALL students are successful. 

I am looking forward to working with you all to ensure that the 2022 - 2023 school year is the best yet at Whitaker Elementary School.
