What are School Counselors? What do we do?
Professional School Counselors advocate for students and families to promote access to opportunities and equity among all students in the district. School Counselors design and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that enhances and promotes student achievement, social-emotional learning, and career/postsecondary development. School Counselors are trained professionals who emphasize the development of healthy relationships, are instrumental in fostering communication between schools and families, and are invested in students’ social-emotional learning development. School Counselors obtain Master's degrees and hold professional educational licenses. Through professional development, School Counselors demonstrate their commitment to professionalism and expertise in their field to better serve the families of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.
Each one of the tabs on the left indicates the services we provide. We help you choose your classes and we do registration. We follow up on your academic progress - we provide college information, therapy on-site, credit recovery, FACE program, and other programs that will help you learn about the required classes to graduate on time while finding the career path of your dreams.
