WELCOME!   My name is Mrs. Phifer and I am the General Music/Chorus teacher here at Morgan Elementary School.  Ms. Noisette teaches Music on Day 3 of the Specialist Rotation and I teach on Days 4, 5 and 6.   I also teach Music at Kimberley Park Elementary School.  Previously, I have taught Music on the middle school level.  I am very excited about joining the Morgan family!  Let me tell you about myself...I am a proud graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education.  My husband, Mark and I have two fantastic children, Sean, 17 and Kayla, 14.  I love entertaining family and friends, reading, watching our children play basketball, cooking and TEACHING MUSIC! 

 

 

Kindergarten and 1st Grade -  We will focus on keeping the steady beat, singing, movement, rhythm and early concepts of tempo, dynamics and pitch.

 

2nd and 3rd Grade - We wil work on increasing development of listening skills and describing music.  We will also work on techniques for playing instruments and beginning music notation.

 

4th and 5th Grade - We will be learning to play Recorders as part of our General Music Curriculum.  More details about Recorders and Chorus will come home soon.

 

 

My approach to teaching is Fair, Firm and Flexible.  I believe Music is for all children.  In my classroom, students will explore Music through creative activities as they listen to various genres of Music.  I will need your support in many ways and will be contacting you soon regarding programs, field trips and fund-raising events.  If you would like to donate items to the Music Room, please consider the following:
