Welcome to 8th grade!
I'm glad you took some time to stop by. For anyone that I haven't personally met, my name is Melissa Guy and I am your child's 8th grade math teacher on the Pirates Team. I recently moved from the 6th grade, so I am super excited to have some of my previous students this year. I love seeing how much they have grown and matured - we're going to have such an awesome year together!
I am originally from San Antonio, Texas and a graduate of the University of Texas (Hook 'Em Horns!). My family and I moved to North Carolina in 2007 when my husband accepted a position with Volvo Trucks. I joined the school system as a full-time teacher in 2011 after spending almost 10 years as a stay-at-home mom to raise my two children, Jared and Emily. My son is now a freshman at Atkins High School and my daughter is a 6th grader here at Kernersville Middle - so I have walked the shoes you are in with dealing with all the comes with raising an 8th grader! Believe me when I say this...you WILL survive! I will do my very best to make sure your child is successful in my classroom. The more support you can offer at home - the more successful they will be here at school. So I look forward to working WITH you to help your child reach the very top limits of their potential. I believe in your child and will do all that I can to make sure they believe in themselves!
