Thomas J. Hudnall5th Grade EducatorGo Mavericks!
Tom is originally from National Park, New Jersey. Tom spent his summers as a middle school camp counselor at the YMCA in Woodbury, NJ. Following his love of math and teaching young students he chose education as his career. He attended and graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Middle School Mathematics. Tom was a member of Kappa Delta Epsilon which is an education national honor society at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In college Tom played intramural sports and spent his time in inner city classrooms teaching math to these students. He student taught at Crestwood Community Middle School in Royal Palm Beach, FL. After graduating college he began his teaching career at The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, FL. He taught 8th grade Geometry and Algebra. Here he was the head of the Math Department which consisted of the curriculum management and positioning of students in different levels of math. At The Benjamin School he coached JV football and basketball in which his team had an undefeated season of 21-0! Tom coached a MathCounts team and took them to state ranked competitions. One of his matheletes finished in the top 10 in all of Florida. He worked basketball and summer camps and began the Birthday Parties at school. After 8 years there Tom then took his teaching career to The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida. Here Tom taught Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry to high school students and continued teaching middle school Pre-algebra. He took over the varsity basketball program that had only 3 wins the previous season and improved it to 12 wins under his leadership. Next, he went to teach at Forsyth Country Day School. He was the seventh grade math teacher and team leader for 7 years and then became a 5thgrade teacher of Mathematics, Social Studies and Language Arts. At FCDS he was the varsity boys basketball assistant, head JV football coach, and coached the middle school JV basketball team. He and another colleague started a dodgeball league that serviced an average of 60 plus students per season. During his teaching career he has attended several math conferences and presented at the NCAIS conference held at Forsyth Country Day School. He has coached junior high through JV football and junior high through varsity boys basketball along with his children’s soccer and baseball teams. He and Kelly, his wife, a teaching assistant at Sherwood Forest Elementary, have four children. Tom enjoys running, reading the Bible, and watching his kids play sports. Tom is so excited to be a Morgan "Maverick" teacher! Fly High!!!
