• Welcome to Ms. Cooper's Resource Room
I am the part time Exceptional Children's Resource Teacher here at Moore Magnet Elementary. This is my second year at Moore. I spent 5 wonderful years at home with my daughter and son. Those years will always be precious to me and I feel so fortunate to have had them. I also feel so fortunate to be part of the amazing team of educators at Moore. Prior to my stay at home I taught for 5 years in WSFCS teaching exceptional children. Prior to teaching, I worked for several years with special populations in the community. Helping people overcome adversity is an extremely rewarding job. I look forward to each day that I can help students overcome obstacles and grow as learners. I believe parents and teachers have to work as a team to help students meet their full potential. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or if you want to schedule a meeting.
Time at home is often hurried, but parents are children's first and best teachers! Just a little bit of 1:1 time with you at home each day will make a big difference in your child's learning. Reading and re-reading interesting books on your child's reading level is the best way to work on fluency at home. Letter sound, letter blend, or sight word flash cards are quick and easy and increase fluency too. Math facts flash cards increase math fluency skills. You can keep flash cards handy in the car and hit them while waiting to pick up siblings or while waiting for other activities to start. Writing and solving word problems on kid friendly topics is a great way to get some problem solving and writing practice. The computer always draws kids attention and there are a lot of great educational websites. I have listed and linked a few here on my webpage. Thanks for visiting, 2014-2015 is going to be a great year!
