Welcome!  I am Mrs. Howell and I teach the Health Science curriculum at EFHS.  The Health Science curriculum allows students to explore various health care careers, learn about body systems, and eventually prepare for the world of work as a Certified Nurses Assistant.  Educating the students of today to be the future medical staff of tomorrow is exciting as medicine becomes more and more advanced with each passing day.  I graduated from East Carolina University and received my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing.  I have worked a a staff nurse in areas such as adult oncology, pediatrics, pediatric oncology and palliative care; while also spending time in nurse management and nursing education.  Nursing and other health care careers offer so many different opportunities for employment.  Medicine is always evolving and being able to teach high school students about all that the medical field has to offer is so exciting.  I try to instill into my students that they should always be open to learning something new everyday.  My goal is to teach my students about health care while reaching out to them and giving them the tools to be successful adults both personally and professionally.
