Every year WS/FCS recognizes employees and volunteers who have excelled in their individual fields. This recognition is known as the CORE Awards.

Each school can nominate one person per award category. The categories are:

• TOY - Teacher of the Year

• CISPY - Certified Instructional Support Personnel of the Year

• CEOY - Classified Employee of the Year

• POY - Principal of the Year

• APOY - Assistant Principal of the Year

• VOY - Judy Montjoy Volunteer of the Year

District committees review the school nominees and go through a rigorous process to determine a small group of finalists for each category. A large celebration takes place in late spring where the "winners" are announced and prizes awarded. In some categories, such as Teacher of the Year, the district winner goes on to compete against representatives from other districts across the state.
