My name is Kristen McKillop and I am the MTSS Interventionist at Sedge Garden Elementary School. I have been teaching for 15 years. I spent 11 years teaching in the classroom and this is my fifth year as the MTSS Interventionist. MTSS stands for Multi-Tiered System of Support and is a system approach using data-driven problem solving to maximize learning for all. My goal is to help teachers and students overcome any obstacles they may have in accessing the regular curriculum.

I currently have 4 Teacher Assistants who help by meeting with students in small groups daily to focus on specific skills. Together with, Mrs. Gloria Price, Ms. Emily Stonesifer, Mrs. Jamie Carpeter and Mrs. Christine Carrier, we serve approximately 200 kids with the goal of closing gaps. We use the IMSE Orton Gillingham curriculum, which is a research-based intervention specifically designed to remediate foundational reading skills. We use the Envisions Diagnostic Intervention System and Dreambox for math interventions.
