Social Emotional Learning

Spring Panorama Survey

Did you know that the Panorama survey allows us to capture and analyze feedback from all our stakeholders? The survey informs us about factors that contribute to positive and safe learning environments from the perspectives of students, teachers, staff, and families. Thank you to all who participated in this bi-annual climate survey. Your voices help to make WS/FCS a more informed place to learn, work, and grow.

Hidden in Plain Sight April 10 6:30 - 7:30 PM

Join us at West Forsyth High School for an opportunity to learn more about substance trends, paraphernalia, and how to have substance use conversations with your child. Please share this learning opportunity with your school communities. As a note, these conversations are also relevant to elementary families so that parents/guardians can gain information proactively before their children reach adolescence.

Please reach out to Sydney Carroll, Substance Use and Safety Specialist, for more information.

United for Wellness Summit 2025

On April 17, we will partner with student services and a host of community organizations in a wellness summit for registered high school students. In the SEL session, students will discover effective self-care strategies to enhance their well-being and create safe spaces for self-expression. Students will learn how to prioritize their mental and physical health and develop habits that support their overall well-being.

Restorative Practices 2-DayTraining April 24 and 25, 2025

During this two-day introductory training, participants will learn fundamental theory and practices for engaging with students, staff and parents in the school setting. Participants will strengthen their knowledge of Restorative Practices and will learn how to facilitate circles to build social capital, resolve social problems and build relationships. Participants will also strengthen knowledge of how to build a restorative community with high expectations while being supportive.

On two successive days, participants will discuss and practice key concepts of how to have one-on-one conversations; the effective use of informal time as students gather, and the use of circles. Participants will be seated in a circle and all participants will have the opportunity to participate throughout the day.
