Transportation Information for Walkertown Elementary

Car Riders

Car riders enter in through Darrow Road (see Morning Procedures) each morning beginning at 7:25 am and ending promptly at 7:55 am. Students are greeted each morning by a WES staff member at their car doors. We encourage parents to place students on the right side of the vehicle for quick unloading and loading each day.

In the afternoon, car rider dismissal begins approximately at 2:25 pm. Parents are greeted by a staff member who will enter in their information via PikMyKid. This is to ensure that only approved drivers are picking up students. If for some reason, a change needs to be made to who is picking up your child that day, please call 336.703.4252 prior to 2 pm. Please provide your child’s information, teacher name and who will be picking them up. Only emergency changes will be made by phone, otherwise we ask parents to send in a written note to their child’s teacher.

Walkers

Walkers enter the building through the main entrance off Main Street (see Morning Procedures) each morning beginning at 7:25 am and ending promptly at 7:55 am. Students are greeted each morning by a WES staff member at the front entrance as well as our safety patrol officers if they need support. We ask that parents drop students off at the entrance. If for some reason you need to enter the building, you will have to sign in through the main office and receive a visitor’s pass.

This is to ensure that only approved adults are picking up students. Bus Riders

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School (WSFCS) has a district policy that all Pre-K, Kindergarten and first grade students must be accompanied by an adult to and from the bus stop. If there is no parent at the afternoon stop, the student(s) will be transported to the next school on the bus route. NOTE: This could be an Elementary, Middle, or High School and not Walkertown Elementary. Students not picked up after numerous occurrences could face consequences such as bus suspensions. Students are only allowed to be transported to and from the address listed in Infinite Campus. Students are not allowed to ride the bus home with friends or to another address that is not on the regular assigned bus route.

Students who are new to Walkertown Elementary and WSFCS will have to request transportation upon enrollment. It could take up to 10 days to be approved by the district office. Parents/Guardians must arrange transportation until the change is approved by the Davidson County Transportation Department. If parents/legal guardians wish to request a change of location from their student’s current assigned bus stop, they must contact the office to request this change be made in Infinite Campus. All requests will be received by Transportation and then communicated with families/guardians once it is or is not approved. Requests for unsafe stops will be investigated and making the request does not automatically mean that there will be a change.
