Modified Diets & Medical Statements
DINE WSFCS is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for students during mealtimes. We understand the importance of providing accurate nutrition, ingredient, and allergen information for students to make informed choices for their health and well-being, and we are dedicated to creating a foodservice environment that ensures information accuracy at all times. Furthermore, we understand the impact that food allergies and medical conditions can have on the life of young people, and we commit to strict observance of USDA regulations for accommodating children with special needs. We will also collaborate with school personnel, parents and caregivers, and medical providers to provide a safe food environment.
Please note that, in alignment with NCDPI and USDA guidance & regulations, the Medical Statement for Students with Unique Mealtime Needs for School Meals form will only be accepted for students with medically documented disabilities or food allergies. If your child has a food intolerance or non-medical dietary preference, please refer to the “How are students with food intolerances accommodated?” and “Does Child Nutrition accommodate non-medical dietary preferences?” sections below for more information.
Food Allergy Disclaimer: The WSFCS Child Nutrition Department makes every effort to be allergy aware, adhere to proper food safety protocol to prevent cross-contact with other allergen-containing foods, and provide a safe food environment for our students. Provision of allergy modified menus may be provided for students with unique mealtime needs along with service of foods that do are not made with allergens; however, please be aware that Child Nutrition prepares our food in commercial kitchens where cross-contact with food allergens and product substitutions may occur. Continually, the commercial food manufacturers we utilize may alter the product formulation or substitute product at any time without providing notice. For further questions or concerns, please contact the WSFCS Child Nutrition dietitian at (336) 703-4275.
