Math: measurement, place value, addition and subtraction within 1000, telling time to the 5 minute intervals, 3D and 2D geometry.
Reading: fiction and non-fiction reading, practice fluency (words read per minute), writing responses to texts.
Social Studies: study historical figures, understand timelines, interpret maps, understand the effects of humans interacting with their environment, basic economics, and understand the purpose of governments.
Science: weather, sound, life cycles, matter, and genetics.
Second Grade • 2 boxes of 24 crayons • 1 box washable markers OR colored pencils • 2 black dry erase markers • 2 packs of pencils • 1 pencil pouch with zipper • 10 glue sticks • 5 wedge/pencil top erasers • 4 wide-ruled composition books • 4 solid-colored pocket folders • 1 package wide-ruled paper • 1 book bag with no wheels • 2 boxes of tissues • 1 box plastic sandwich bags (Opt: Qt or Gal) • 1 hand sanitizer
Homework is sent home every Monday (or the first day of the week) and turned in on the last day of the week. It will consist of a spelling sheet, math review work, fluency practice and reading log questions to go with the home reading.
