    Hello Petree Elementary Families,

I just want to take a moment to introduce myself to everyone at Petree Elementary. I am so excited to have this honor and privilege to work with you this year.  I can't wait to get to know you and I look forward to forming relationships this school year. It’s going to be great and I know that our staff and students are going to do great things.

Let me start by telling you a little bit about myself. This year coming, I will have served over 21 years in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School District.  I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from North Carolina Agriculture & Technical State University, GO Aggies! After graduation I began my teaching career at Petree Elementary (Hooray!) as a 4th-grade teacher for 7 years.

During the latter portion of my time as a teacher I obtained my Master's Degree in Education from Winston-Salem State University which allowed me to then advance to the position of Curriculum Coach at Cash Elementary School. Soon after that I was pleased to obtain my Academically Gifted Licensure from High Point University and decided to journey to Griffith Elementary & Kimberly Park Elementary as an AG specialist.

A few years later, I attended Gardner-Webb University for my Administrative Licensure. I was then advanced to the Assistant Principal position at Southwest Elementary School. Shortly after, I was honored to become the new Assistant Principal at Ashley IB Elementary Magnet School where I served for 5 years.

During my time at Ashley Elementary I was also honored to be named North Carolina Assistant Principal of the Year 2012-2013. I then returned to Southwest Elementary as the Assistant Principal for the 2015-2016 school year and became the Interim Principal for the 2nd half of this school year.

After leaving Southwest, I became the Principal at Cash Elementary School, where I have served for the last 4 years and our students EXCEEDED academic growth. And finally, I was recently honored to be asked to transition back to my teaching alma mater, Petree Elementary to serve as Principal.

On a personal note, I am a native and product of Winston-Salem, NC. My husband and I live in Davidson County and we are proud Pittsburgh Steelers Fans. We are very involved in our local church ministry and love education.

The bottom line is I love working with students and teachers. I enjoy motivating people and being hands-on. One of my favorite things to do is to meet new people and create a positive culture/climate. My philosophy is “Children First” and my job along with the assistant principal and staff is to create a healthy, safe, positive learning environment for all children to be successful. This is going to be great! I look forward to the many exciting things that will happen this school year and building educational relationships with both students, parents, and staff.

Before I end, I’d like to extend an invitation to you. Please feel free to stop in the office, so that I will have the honor of meeting you face to face. Again, I look forward to working with you this year. “Go Petree!”

    Your New Principal
