About Mrs. Lyerly....
My educational background includes undergraduate certification in Music Education K-12, Special Education K-12, and Elementary Education K-6. I earned a Master of Education Degree from the University of Virginia. I have been extremely fortunate to have taught in each area. For over ten years, I was also an organist/choir director for my home Episcopal church and taught piano lessons. My husband and I are the parents of grown children and one spoiled Schnoodle puppy. Our daughter is a local optometrist and our twin sons are still in school. I am blessed to have a sister and a very loved mom. My family enjoys caring for and spending time with our "Mimi"!
I enjoy.... teaching children and learning new things, spending time with my family/friends, NC State events/activities, music, sewing/decorating, reading, technology, shopping, and Pinterest!
Working with children is a rewarding experience! I believe that all students need a positive learning environment. My goals for my students are:
- to help develop a life long love of learning
- to teach the skills/strategies that will promote independent learning
- to help develop higher level thinking skills
