At the June 15, 2021 Board of Education meeting, it was announced that Reynolds High School would get exclusive use of the track and surrounding athletic fields at Hanes Park from 2:30 - 7:00 pm on weekdays. This will reduce the risk of non-students getting hurt or interfering with student practices and sports events. To read the article about this in the local newspaper, click here ( * ).A September, 2021 front-page article in the local newspaper told about the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education being expected to soon vote on whether to direct school officials to find money to pay for a practice field adjacent to Hanes Park for teams at Reynolds High School and Wiley Middle School. To read this article, click here ( * ).Two weeks later, the local newspaper had an article stating that a Committee of the Board of Education voted to recommend that the School System spend $1.7 million on athletic facilities ( which includes a practice field for RJR next to Hanes Park).
