I was born and raised right here in Kernersville!!! I attended Cash Elementary, Ashley Middle and East Forsyth High School. Did you know Mr. Poteat, our principal, was my science teacher at East High? I was lucky to be in his class, and I am now lucky to work for him!!
That's me in 1996 on my way to prom!! No, I didn't have 2 dates; just my 2 besties!!!
After high school, I attended Campbell University where I obtained a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating in 2000, I started my teaching career at Mineral Springs Elementary school. I taught 5th grade there for 5 years. During this time, I went to Winston-Salem State University and obtained a master's degree in education. In 2013, I attended Duke University where I received my certification in Academically/Intellectually Gifted children.
I began teaching at East Middle the 1st year it opened!! I taught 6th grade Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. I left East for 2 years to explore a career in Curriculum and Testing. I worked at Konnoak Elementary for 2 years, but missed the classroom terribly. I was able to come back to East during the 2010-2011 school year and back to my first love: TEACHING!!!
I have been married 10 years to my wonderful husband, Bryan. We do not have children yet, but we have 2 sweet cats named Forrest and K.C.
My "babies"; K.C. on the left and Forrest on the right.
In my spare time I love to listen to music, travel and spend time with Bryan, my family and friends!!
