WS/FCS Names 5 New Principals For 2019-2020
June 27, 2019 - The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Educaton has approved the naming of five new principals.
Sean Gaillard will be the new principal at Moore Magnet Elementary School. Shannon Boles will be the new principal at The Children’s Center. Matt Dixson will be the new principal at Meadowlark Middle School. Brendan Elkins will be the new principal at Piney Grove Elementary School. Joey Hearl will be the new principal at Early College & Forsyth Middle College. All five will assume their new roles in July.
Sean Gaillard has served as principal at Lexington Middle school since 2016. Prior to that appointment, he worked as an Education Advisor with Buncee Ed Tech in Long Island, New York. Before his time with Buncee, Gaillard served as the principal at John F. Kennedy High School, and Wiley Magnet Middle School. He was also the assistant principal at Kernersville Middle School and a teacher at Reynolds High School.
Gaillard earned a bachelor’s degree from The Catholic University of America and a master’s degree in Secondary English from Trinity College. He has a master’s degree in School Administration from North Carolina A&T University.
Gaillard replaces Adam Dovico who has resigned to pursue other opportunities.
Shannon Boles has served as the principal at Pinnacle Elementary since 2016. Prior to that Boles served as a principal at Poplar Springs Elementary, King Elementary, and Walnut Cove Elementary starting in 2002. Before her time as a principal, Boles was an assistant principal at West Stokes High School and South Stokes High School. She started her career in education as a history teacher.
Boles earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in School Administration from Appalachian State University.
Boles replaces Samantha Manring who is the new principal at Lowrance Middle School.
Matt Dixson has served as WS/FCS Chief Human Resources Officer since 2016. Prior to that appointment, he served as the principal at Southwest Elementary starting there in 2011. Dixson was an assistant principal at Moore Magnet Elementary from 2007 to 2011 and before that, he taught third and fourth grade.
Dixson earned a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Salem College. He has his Education Specialist Certification and Administrative Licensure from Appalachian State University.
Dixson replaces Joey Hearl who is moving to principal of Forsyth Early and Middle College in July.
Brendan Elkins has served as the assistant principal at Piney Grove since 2016. Prior to that Elkins served as a principal intern at Caleb’s Creek from 2015. From 2008 to 2014, Elkins was a teacher at Southeast Middle School.
Elkins earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a master’s degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Elkins replaces Bob Vorbroker who is retiring.
Joey Hearl has served as principal at Meadowlark Middle School since 2012. Prior to that appointment, he served as principal at Mount Airy Middle School starting in 2008. He was the assistant principal at Chestnut Grove Middle School from 2007 to 2008. Hearl was also a high school Business Education, Math, and Spanish teacher and he worked as an adjunct faculty member at Southside Virginia Community College.
Hearl earned a bachelor’s degree from Longwood University and a master’s degree in Education from Lynchburg College.
Hearl replaces Fran Cook who resigned at the end of 2018.
