WS/FCS Board of Education Meets October 8, 2019

October 8, 2019 - On Tuesday, October 8, 2019, the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education met at 6:30 p.m. as part of the board's regular meeting schedule.  They met inside the auditorium of the Education Building at 4801 Bethania Station Road in Winston-Salem. 

The first order of business included the  Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education Oath of Office for Marilyn Parker administered by Chief District Court Judge Lisa Menefee.

The board is expected to discuss: 

  • Innovation Technology Showcase - Marty Creech, Karen Meier
  • Community and Neighborhood Initiative - Angela Hairston
  • Climate, Culture & Equity Committee Report - Deanna Kaplan
  • Finance Committee Report - Deanna Kaplan
  • Building & Grounds Committee Report - Leah Crowley
  • Draft of District Strategic Plan Mission & Vision Statement (added via amendment)

The board approved:

  • Community and Neighborhood Initiative  
  • Contract for American Reading Company   
  • Contract for Larry Barron
  • Annual MOU with Family Services, Inc.
  • IStation Contract
  • Consent Agenda Items - General Personnel Report, September 24, 2019, Special Called Board Meeting Minutes, September 24, 2019, Board Meeting Minutes
  • Draft of District Strategic Plan Mission & Vision Statement (added via amendment)
  • Resolution to Honor Big "4" Teaching Alumni (added via amendment)
