DECEMBER 3, 2019 – The Kernersville Honor Society at Kernersville Middle School recently held its second-annual Toy Drive for the Salvation Army Kernersville.
The goal of the Honor Society is to give back to the community in which we live. We do this by completing community service hours in schools, churches and non-profits throughout Kernersville and the surrounding areas. When deciding on how to get Kernersville Middle School as a whole involved in giving back to our community, teaming up with The Salvation Army of Kernersville was a no-brainer.
The Honor Society Toy Drive for the Salvation Army Kernersville ran from Nov. 18 through Nov. 26.
We raised $2,250.00 in monetary donations and over six huge boxes of new toys. The members of the honor society enjoyed manning collection boxes at the top of each hallway and asking for donations for the last seven days leading up to the Thanksgiving break.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, Major Young Kim met with the Honor Society members for a picture with all the toys while Principal Lisa Duggins and School Counselor Kim Pardue presented them with the $2,250.00 check.
Kernersville Honor Society is looking forward to working with The Salvation Army Kernersville for years to come.
