Bree 15 NOVEMBER 16, 2020 – Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is inviting those who would like to start working as a teacher, substitute teacher or school counselor for the school system to attend a Virtual Career Fair on Dec. 5.

At the fair, people will be able to meet virtually with principals at elementary, middle and high schools.

“We are looking for immediate hires and also future hires,” said Bree Christensen, the Employee Recruitment Coordinator for the school system.

People can register online for the fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 5. When people register, they will fill out a profile and provide such information as their resume.

On the day of the fair, once people sign in, they will be able to visit virtual booths for each school and meet with the principals at the schools where they would be interested in working. Initially, they will talk with principals by text only.

Following the meet-and-greet, the booth representative can then offer to set up a video call where cameras would be turned on and the person interested in becoming a teacher at the school would talk with a school representative directly.

Bree 22 In a sense, the event is two virtual fairs. People interested in teaching at an elementary school or working as a substitute teacher will join one fair where they can visit virtual booths set up by elementary schools. At the other fair, they can visit virtual booths set up by middle and high school virtual booths.

Candidates are welcome to sign up for and attend both events.

The school system’s Human Resources department will also have a virtual Helpdesk where people can have questions answered.

People interested in tips for participating in the fair are invited to join a webinar being held by the HR department from 3:30 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 1.
