Sherwood Forest and Meadowlark in the Top 25 Elementary Schools in North Carolina

NOVEMBER 19, 2021 – Two Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools were ranked in the Top 25 Elementary Schools in North Carolina by U.S. News & World Report.
Sherwood Forest was ranked No. 12, and Meadowlark Elementary was ranked No. 25.
Schools were ranked based on students’ performance on state-required tests and on how well the schools prepare their students for middle and high school.
Jacob Lowther is the principal at Sherwood Forest.
"The last few school years have been difficult ones due to the pandemic for educators, students and families,” Lowther said.
“Everyone in every part of the education process in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools should be commended for working creatively and tirelessly to provide the best education possible for all our students.”

Sarah Patten is the Teacher of the Year at Sherwood Forest.
“Working with such a tremendous team of creative and giving colleagues, students, and parents is such an honor!” Patten said.
“The collaboration and support from our administration and our community is the key to Sherwood Forest's success! We witness this everyday – rain or shine, pandemic or not!”
Kathryn Steen is the Instructional Technology Facilitator at Sherwood Forest.
"Being recognized feels good!” Steen said.
“The affirmation is reassuring when so much of the news about schools these days is negative. Often, when I read those comments and stories, I think that folks need to experience school the way it happens at Sherwood Forest.”

Neil Raymer is the principal at Meadowlark.
