Eight WS/FCS Students Advance to State Science Fair

February 19, 2024 - The 2024 North Carolina Region 5 Science and Engineering Fair is in the books, and when the state competition kicks off next month, Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools will be represented by eight of its best and brightest young scientists.

The Region 5 Science and Engineering Fair took place over the weekend at WS/FCS’ own East Forsyth High School. 38 WS/FCS students who placed at the district fair in January represented the district with projects in fields like biology, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, and physics. The North Carolina State Science and Engineering Fair will be held on March 23 at North Carolina State University. Even reaching the regional event is a major accomplishment, and for WS/FCS to send eight students all the way to the state competition reflects a remarkably talented pool of young scientists honing their minds in the district.

A list of WS/FCS students who placed during the Region 5 Science and Engineering Fair, with students advancing to the state fair highlighted, is available here.

Congratulations to our wonderful WS/FCS scientists!
