New Reporting Tool for Students

WSFCS will be starting a new program soon. The North Carolina Center for Safer Schools has designed a smartphone app that is being piloted in Spring 2016 to allow for anonymous reporting of potentially illegal or dangerous activity.

This application allows students and members of the community to share information via text message that may include images, voice recordings and social media posts. Tips may be related to incidents of bullying, drugs, danger, fighting, underage drinking and/or weapons.

Information submitted to the app will be reviewed for action to address the concern. Action may include notifying trained mental health professionals, law enforcement and school personnel.

The app can be downloaded for free for both Apple and Android phones with the name “Speak up NC.” Watch this short video for more information.

We will begin tracking tips on Wednesday, April 6. Please encourage your child to download the application and use it wisely. Thank you.
