ECF Announcements (April 12-16)

Hello Tree Nation!!  I hope you had an enjoyable weekend.  Here are announcements for this week (April 12-16).

 

  • IMPORTANT!!! Students, you need to be checking both your WSFCS and your FT email accounts daily!!!

 

  • The WSFCS School Board approved the return of high school students 4 days a week. We have already been offering this option for ECF/MCF students due to our small enrollment.  Please email Mr. Hearl (jdhearl@wsfcs.k12.nc.us) if you would like to switch from remote to in-person learning for the remainder of the year. 

 

  • Thank you to all students that ran for 2021-2022 Class Officer positions. Here are the winners of last week’s elections.  Please see Mrs. Weavil if you have any questions.

  • We are happy to introduce a new club at Early College of Forsyth—the ECF Running Club. This club will meet on Tuesday afternoons right after school and run on the FTCC campus until 4:20 PM each Tuesday.   Meet in Mrs. Wright’s room right after school on Tuesdays if you want to participate.  Runners of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.  Please see Mrs. Wright if you have any questions.

 

  • ATTENTION SENIORS!! Below is valuable information that is very relevant to your end-of-year activities.  Please read very carefully.  See Mr. Hearl or Mrs. Morrow if you have any questions.
    • We need each Senior to fill out the Senior Spotlight Form as soon as possible so that we can feature our Seniors on our website and Twitter page over the next few weeks. Please take five minutes and complete the Google Form using the link below. 
    • Senior T-shirts can be picked up from the Main Office beginning Wednesday, April 14. A shirt has been ordered for every Senior.  The office is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM daily.
    • We will have our Senior Awards Program on Monday, May 10, at 6:30 PM. This program will be conducted virtually on Zoom.  Students can share the following link with family members that would like to join the Zoom session.
    • Graduation Practice for Seniors will be held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 11, at Deaton-Thompson Stadium (2052 Old Salisbury Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127). Students should dress comfortably for the practice.  You do not have to wear your cap and gown to the practice.  We will have a Senior Cookout and Yearbook Signing from 11:00 AM-12:00 Noon at the stadium immediately following the graduation practice.
    • FTCC Graduation will be held on Wednesday, May 12, at 10:00 AM at Truist Stadium (951 Ballpark Way, Winston-Salem, NC 27101). This is the DASH baseball stadium.  You need to click the link below to read more about the FTCC Graduation.  You must register for the graduation.  Registration opens on April 12.  Please check your FTCC email account for more information.  The link below also provides information about how to pick up your Forsyth Tech cap and gown.  Please email Ms. Mills (mmills@forsythtech.edu) if you have specific questions.
    • ECF Graduation will be held on Thursday, May 13, at 9:30 AM at Deaton-Thompson Stadium (2052 Old Salisbury Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127). Seniors need to arrive by 8:45 AM.  Seniors will be seated on the field.  Parents will be seated in the bleachers.  Seniors will be allotted 10 tickets for guests for graduation.  (This number may increase if outdoor capacity limits are increased before May 13.)  We will have a photographer taking pictures of each Senior receiving his/her diploma on the stage and taking pictures of each Senior as he/she walks off the stage.  Parents will NOT be allowed on the field to take pictures during the program. 
    • Seniors must have all fees paid (textbooks, Senior fees, calculator, Chromebook, etc.) to the school prior to participating in Graduation on May 13. Please email Mrs. Shore (tmshore2@wsfcs.k12.nc.us) if you have specific questions about fees.

 

  • Several ECF teachers/staff members are offering tutoring after school/weekends to help students close out the school year in good academic standing. The tutoring sessions are free of charge for students.  The following staff members will be offering sessions (Barton, Weavil, Pagan, Nakawatase, Green, Daniels).  Staff members are available to assist students with both high school and college classes and can tutor all ECF students.  Please reach out to the staff members listed above or Mr. Hearl (jdhearl@wsfcs.k12.nc.us) for more information.

 

  • If you are returning to campus for the remainder of the semester (as a student driver), you will need to register for your parking decal. Once you have registered your vehicle, you can go to FT Campus Police and pick up your decal (free of charge). Please use the link below to register your vehicle.

    • Tuesday, May 11: ECF Graduation Practice @ Deaton-Thompson Stadium (10:00 AM)
    • Tuesday, May 11: ECF Senior Cookout and Yearbook Signing (11:00 AM)
    • Wednesday, May 12: Forsyth Tech Graduation @ Truist Stadium (10:00 AM)
    • Thursday, May 13: ECF Graduation @ Deaton-Thompson Stadium (9:30 AM)
    • Thursday, May 20-Wednesday, May 26: End-of-Year Testing for Non-Seniors
    • Wednesday, May 26: Final Day of School Year for Non-Seniors

 

  • Attention all students:  Mr. Felder is going to be absent from school for an extended period of time.  Please direct all guidance/college transcript/etc. requests to Mr. Hearl (jdhearl@wsfcs.k12.nc.us). 

 

  • We have several boxes of non-perishable food available for students/families in need. The boxes are pre-packaged and have food to provide meals for a family of four over a three-day period.  Please email lynakawatase@wsfcs.k12.nc.us or call the school if you can benefit from this free resource.

 

  • Union Urban Ministries is a community organization offering financial assistance for utilities, medicine, mortgage, and rent. Please call 336-486-7566 or visit unionbaptistwsnc.org if you could benefit from this assistance.
