Message to Families October 16, 2020
Good evening Sherwood Forest Families,
I hope this message finds you well. Thank you to all of the families who completed the survey. At this time, no student has to change classroom teachers and we will not need to use an overflow room. 4th and 5th grade families only will receive a separate email with the assignment for Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday cohort for your 4th/5th grade student.
Here are a few updates and reminders this week:
Under Plan B starting November 2nd, K-3 and self-contained EC students will return to in person instruction for those electing to return in-person.
Also, the week of November 2nd, daily schedules will change for both Remote and in-person students for all K-5 students. Wednesdays will be the flex day during Plan B. Election day, Tuesday, November 3rd remains a remote learning day for everyone. Then, November 4th will be the first flex Wednesday.
Teachers will be sending daily schedule changes under Plan B. As we transition back to in person learning, we will be creating school videos that will be emailed and posted on the website to review procedures that students and families will need to follow under plan B. This will include arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess , synchronous and asynchronous instruction, etc. Classroom teachers will also be reviewing both school and classroom procedures during their daily meetings with students over the next two weeks of remote learning. Once students are in person, teachers will review the very important safety procedures.
Wednesday, October 28th, we will have an important material and start of in-person pickup at the school for Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade families. We want both remote and in-person student families to pick up materials that day. Students returning in person will receive transportation and other back to school information.
Kindergarten parents, watch for an email and information about a mini K camp in-person experience on October 29th. K families will select from (9:00-11:00) (1:00-3:00) or (4:00-6:00). We will meet with families either outside or socially distanced in the cafeteria, right after students arrive. This will give our youngest students the chance to be in the building and classrooms prior to the first day of school.

Thank you for your support of Sherwood Forest as we make a safe transition to concurrently instructing students in-person and remotely.
