Our Safe Return to Remote (Virtual) Learning – 1st quarter

Top 10 Checklist

 

Walkertown Elementary School welcomes you back to Plan C – Remote Learning for the first quarter of the 2020-2021 school year. The following checklist can help guide you through what you need to do. You can also refer any questions to our main number at (336) 703-4252, review the Our Safe Return Guidebook for Families located on Our Safe Return landing page at wsfcs.k12.nc.us/OurSafeReturn, or call our WS/FCS Hotline at 336.661.3128 7:30am-4:30pm Monday-Friday.

 

  1. Turn in Health Forms - Please make sure that you have turned in your current health forms/immunization records to your school. This is mandatory by September 16.
  2. Secure Computer/Internet Access - Computers/tablets and hotspots are available for those that need them by calling (336) 703-4252) from 8:00-3:00
  3. Post Contact Information – Use this chart to list your student’s teacher/s below. You can communicate with them through PowerSchool or the following contact information. Post this list for you/your student in a specific area of learning within your home.

  1. Review Class Schedule - Go over this schedule with your student including when they will need to be logged in online live vs. time that they can work independently.
  2. Purchase Supplies - The list of supplies that your student needs are provided on our website. Please gather these at your earliest convenience. If you need assistance with this, please notify the school for additional resources.
  3. Set up PowerSchool Parent Account - If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal Account, please set one up here k12.nc.us/Page/769. This will be used for attendance, grading, and communications with parents/students.
  4. Do Tutorial on Canvas – Passport to Canvas, a tutorial for our new learning platform, can be accessed at: https://wsfcs.instructure.com/courses/57069.
  5. Meal Information: Please visit the WS/FCS Dine Webpage or call (336) 703-4275 for a list of locations, options, and other meal information.
  6. Get Ready – Spend some time talking with your student/s about remote learning, a new routine, and where they can get help if they need it to make sure that they feel acclimated and ready to start school on Monday, August 17. Set up a comfortable learning place that is separate from other spaces in the home if possible. Encourage a daily routine just like a regular school day!
