Due to a small fire that happened on campus tonight, Walkertown High School and Walkertown Middle School students will have a remote learning day Wednesday, April 30.

This evening after 6 pm, a small fire broke out on a stovetop in a classroom at Walkertown High School. No one was injured and the fire was quickly extinguished.

District maintenance staff will be using air scrubbers to clear out the smoke. The Health Department must make an assessment of the facility before students and staff can return to the schools, which share the same building.

School staff will be reaching out directly to families regarding remote work plans. District leaders will update families about the schools’ schedules for the rest of the week tomorrow.
